Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:89-128. Verse 113, what are some vain thoughts I have entertained today? Why do they displease God? How can I do better in the next hour than in the hour just past?
Nehemiah 6:1-19. By what threats and lies does the enemy seek to intimidate, distract, or discourage me from the work God has given me to do? How can I abide more faithfully under God’s protection today?
Galatians 4:12-20. Verse 19, who has been a spiritual father or mother to me, guiding my formation in Christ? How can I pay that forward today?
Luke 11:5-8. What have I been praying about of late—so far seemingly without result—on which Jesus wants me to be ten times more insistent (importunate) today than yesterday?
