Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 2:1-12. Verses 6-9, as the election nears, can I be calm and confident that King Jesus is on the throne, enacting his good purposes and quelling all fears?
Isaiah-7:1-25. Verses 10-14, related, shall I not take refuge in the coming week with Immanuel, God with us, born of a virgin and sovereign over all history, putting to silence anxiety and worry, worldly politics aside?
James 4:11-17. Since I can’t know what tomorrow will bring, how can I make the most of today in loving God and loving my neighbor?
Luke 16:14-18. Verse 15, foolish inversion of values. What did I overvalue yesterday that is of little importance to God? How can I reverse that and do better today?
