Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 44:1-26. Verse 21, what secrets of my heart, for good or ill, are known to God right now? What shall I pray him to do about them today?
Jeremiah 45:1-5. God tells Baruch the scribe to prepare for the worst and trust God to see him through. What’s the application here and now for me, my family, my church, and our country?
I Corinthians 2:1-16. Verse 2, simplicity of the good news about Jesus Christ and him crucified. Have I been making the Christian life expected of me, and the gospel message entrusted to me, too complicated?
Matthew 25:31-46. Serving the King by serving the poor and destitute. Is there an opportunity to do better at this, staring me right in the face, and I have been managing to ignore it?
