Bible Friday 2/7: Not So Fast

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 92:1-15. Verses 12-14, what evidence of my fruitfulness and flourishing, to the glory of God, might others notice in me today? How can I do that better this year than I did last year?

Genesis 38:1-30. Tamar, wronged and sinned against by Judah, will become by God’s grace a link in Jesus’ human ancestry (see Matt. 1:3). What person have I unjustly looked down upon recently?

Zephaniah 1:1-11. God’s plan to smash the idols and punish the idol-worshippers. Is there someone or something that I’m in danger of making into an idol without realizing it?

Matthew 14:13-21. When have I been too quick to assume that the problem I’m facing is of no concern to Jesus?
