Bible Tuesday 10/22: Fruit of the Spirit

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 126:1-6. Verse 5, what seeds of a better life—my own or a loved one’s—have I been sowing with tears and trusting God for the time when I will reap in joy?

Nehemiah 9:1-38. How closely does my life story fit the pattern described here, of God keeping faith with me even as I repeatedly broke faith with him? Am I overdue in fully confessing that to him?

Galatians 5:16-26. Verses 22 and 23, nine fruits of the Spirit. What if I picked three of them to actively “major in” today—another three tomorrow—and the remaining three on Thursday?

Luke 13:22-30. What does Jesus mean in warning me to enter by the narrow gate? If daily companionship with him (verse 26) isn’t enough for salvation, what is?
