Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 127:1-5. Verse 1, is there something I want to see accomplished, but which is held back right now by too much self-reliance and not enough God-reliance?
Nehemiah 10:1-39. The Israelites covenant with each other to obey and honor God. Are mutual obligation and holy living taken as seriously in my church today as they were in Bible times 2500 years ago?
Galatians 6:1-10. Did my thoughts and action yesterday focus more on sowing to the flesh or sowing to the Spirit? How can I do better today?
Luke 13:31-35. Unafraid of King Herod and all other earthly powers, Jesus presses on toward his appointed self-sacrifice in Jerusalem. Which is uppermost for me as elections approach, the flag or the cross?
