Bible Tuesday 10/29: Two Boys & Their Dad

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 146:1-10. Verses 3-5, amid this tense election season, have I been putting too much trust in human politics and too little in our sovereign, saving God?

Isaiah 3:1-26. Masculine self-importance and feminine self-love, all brought low by an angry God. In teaching that worldly values are all wrong, does my church tend to go shallow or deep?

James 3:1-12. Taming the tongue. What words did I speak yesterday that were offensive to God? How can I do better today?

Luke 15:11-32. Which son am I more like, the one who ran away and crashed or the one who stayed home and brooded? How did God show up for me when the day of reckoning came?
